What it had to do
A homeowner choosing a roofer is comparing three quotes for work they cannot evaluate, on a part of the house they cannot see. Trust has to be manufactured somewhere, and most roofing sites try to do it with badges and stock photography.
This one does it by showing the work at a distance no ladder gets you, and by putting the before and the after under the reader’s own hand.
How it was built
- A scroll-scrubbed film hero. The footage advances with scroll rather than playing on its own, so the reader moves through the job at their own pace and can stop on any frame.
- Drag to compare. Worn shingles to watertight, on one photograph, controlled by the reader. It answers the only question that matters without asking anyone to take our word for it.
- A rough number in ten seconds. A short estimator that gives a real range rather than harvesting a phone number first — a quote path that respects the visitor tends to get used.
- The storm-claim path is written out, because for a large share of roofing enquiries the actual question is about insurance, not shingles.
This is a demonstration build for an invented business. The business does not exist — the name, the prices and the details are invented so we can show the standard of work without putting a client’s site up as a sales tool. The code, the design and the build are entirely real. We label it because a demonstration presented as a client is the thing we least want to be.
